Setting the Bar – “Better in Bicknell”
Growth, opportunity and transformation in the Knox County town of Bicknell was on deck in the January 2025 issue of Business View magazine, a national publication that covers manufacturing, infrastructure, energy and health care developments in America. In an interview, Mayor Thomas Estabrook noted that the town has embraced the brand view that “Bicknell is better,” describing a competitive position emerging for the municipality.
While the town of 3,000 celebrates its attractive “small town feel” and history, it also looks to the future for growth possibilities, which includes paving the way for new residential development. Improved quality of life in market rate housing has already helped attract new families to the area, which boosts workforce potential and capacity, according to Mayor Estabrook.
“Bicknell’s location and commitment to growth represents an important dimension for Knox County, which is key to our continued overall ‘Opportunity Knox’ focus,” said Chris Pfaff, CEO of Knox County Indiana Economic Development (KCIED). “The town’s industrial park is conveniently located on S.R.67, which offers good logistics capacity.” As the magazine points out, Bicknell also holds the advantage of ready access to high-speed fiber connectivity, which elevates both commercial opportunity and residential quality of life.
KCIED also sponsored a four-color ad highlighting attractive Bicknell attributes in the national publication. The January issue of Business View also profiled the Indiana cities of Greenfield, Elkhart, and Mt. Vernon, as well as a number of cities and companies around America.
As editor Karen Surca wrote: “Continued commercial and industrial growth coupled with residential growth propels these municipalities into some of the fastest-growing regions across North America.”
