VINCENNES (Indiana) – In conjunction with a French Student Exchange,
Charlotte Libert , the mayor of Vincennes, France visited Vincennes in Indiana in mid-
October to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the two cities becoming Sister Cities.
During an October 19 ceremony at Vincennes City Hall, Libert and Mayor Joe Yochum
reaffirmed the Sister City friendship by signing a renewal document.
After the ceremony, Mayor Yochum declared the visiting French students to be honorary
citizens of Vincennes, the first city to be founded in the Indiana territory.
The exchange students from France stayed with local host families.
“Long-time international agreements like the sister city relationship between Vincennes
Indiana and Vincennes France help create and elevate important opportunities for
understanding and future engagements,” said Chris Pfaff, CEO of Knox County Indiana
Economic Development.
Vincennes in France is a well-known eastern suburb of the city of Paris, France.
